A great way to get free samples and coupons is to sign up for company newsletters and register on coupon/free sample websites. Before I signed up for anything, though, I set up a separate, free e-mail address that I use only for signing up for offers and registering on websites and nothing else. This way, I don't have to give out my "real" e-mail and I don't mix together personal and professional correspondence with the coupon stuff and sales alerts.
I used Google's G-mail for this, but Hotmail and Yahoo! are others that are free and easy to set up and also have decent spam filters.
