This week, however, it seemed worth a quick stop. They had extra buck back on a Listerine and Revlon and I had expiring coupons to use, so I decided to get some free stuff but not to hold on to the Extra Bucks.
Doing multiple transactions and rolling over the Extra Bucks is easy at CVS once you know how to do it, especially at the one I shop at. In fact, the first time I ever used my CVS card and rolled over extra bucks, the cashier helped me step by step through 5 transactions.
Here's what I got in four transactions on Sunday:
#1
Listerine 500ml, $3.99
Used "Free Listerine up to $5.00" coupon I got in the mail after calling up Listerine and asking for coupons
Total: Free
Received $3.00 Extra Bucks
#2
Nivea body Wash, $5.99
Used $2 off Nivea Body Wash printable coupon from Coupons.com
Used $3 Extra Bucks from transaction #1
Total: $.99
Received $5 Extra Bucks
#3
Revlon Super Luster Lipstick, $6.99
Used $2 Revlon coupon (expired that day which is what sent me into CVS in the first place)
Used $5 Extra Bucks (it actually just took off $4.99, but unlike Walgreen's you don't need a "filler" if your Extra Bucks are more than your total)
Total: Free
Received $5 Extra Bucks
#4
2 gallons whole milk (not pictured), $2.79 ea. = $5.58
Used $5 Extra Bucks
Total: $.58
Total value of purchases: $22.55
Total out-of-pocket: $1.57 (or about what half a gallon of milk would have cost)
Savings by combining coupons with sales and "rolling" Extra Bucks": $20.98 or 93%
